Using Nutan Chat

Ask questions, get deal context, and query your knowledge base using Nutan's three chat modes.

Three Ways to Chat

Nutan has three chat modes, each designed for a different context. All chats run with AI-powered responses that cite real evidence from your data.

General Chat

Open Chat from the sidebar to start a general conversation with Nutan. This is your open-ended assistant for anything related to your sales work:

  • "What should I focus on today?"
  • "Summarize my week."
  • "Help me prepare for my 2pm call."
  • "What's the status of my pipeline?"

General chat has access to your entire local dataset — deals, meetings, contacts, and knowledge base.

Deal Chat

When viewing a specific deal, open the chat panel to ask questions scoped to that deal:

  • "What did Sarah say about budget in the last meeting?"
  • "When was the last time we spoke to their CTO?"
  • "What objections have come up?"
  • "Draft a follow-up email for the procurement discussion."
  • "What are the biggest risks on this deal?"

Deal chat responds with evidence — citing specific meetings, dates, and quotes from your transcripts. Every answer is grounded in real conversations, not guesses.

Knowledge Chat

Navigate to Knowledge and use the chat panel to query your uploaded materials:

  • "What's our pricing for enterprise plans?"
  • "How do we position against Competitor X?"
  • "What's the standard objection response for 'we're happy with our current vendor'?"
  • "Summarize the key points from the Q2 playbook."

Knowledge chat searches across all your uploaded documents — PDFs, Word files, presentations, and more — and returns relevant excerpts with source attribution.

Chat Features

Streaming Responses

Responses appear in real time as the AI generates them, so you don't wait for the full answer.

Rich Content Blocks

Chat responses can include:

  • Formatted text with headings, lists, and emphasis
  • Evidence citations with meeting dates and timestamps
  • Action item suggestions
  • Deal signal references
  • Knowledge base excerpts with source files

Chat History

All conversations are saved locally. Return to any previous chat to review what was discussed. Chat history is stored in your encrypted local database and syncs across devices if cloud sync is enabled.

Privacy

All chat processing happens on your device using the on-device AI model. Your questions and the AI's responses never leave your computer. The AI has access only to your local data — Nutan's servers never see your chat content.
